Welcome to the Inspire ’17 Professional Development Day Website.  

This Participant-Driven PD Day has a wide variety of options for MURSD educators to explore new ideas, collaborate with colleagues and learn from one another.

Register for Sessions:  
  • Please view the schedule options and click on the sessions you would like to attend to register and to build your day’s schedule.  
  • This can be changed at any time leading up to the day.  
  • You can view the schedule in various forms (simple, expanded, grid, by venue) by clicking on the Schedule Dropdown arrow.
Logistics:  
  • The day will begin at 8:00, with the keynote presentation, starting promptly at 8:15 in the Nipmuc HS Auditorium. 
  • Once sessions are approaching capacity, registration maybe closed if we can’t find a larger venue.  
  • Some rooms may be changed between now and the day of the event.  
  • Some details of sessions may be adapted as well.

I am currently participating in a Webinar that is seeking to educate teachers about equality world-wide. The last session that I participated in was on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The UN would like to see these goals reached by 2030. While I would love the chance to develop a whole class based on this premise, right now, I want to figure out how to bring those ideas into my WEX II Curriculum. It goes along well with our Civic Goal. The ways to help the UN SDG are to Invent, Innovate or Campaign. These are things that I believe each student needs to learn to do. For an example as to what I am thinking....

During the Industrial Revolution Unit, we can look at current sanitation around the world and propose solutions.

There is a survey that the students can fill out where they "rank" issues that they care about. There is also ways to pick apart the results. While learning about Imperialism and the Partition of Africa, I can pull out this survey and we can examine why students from Nigeria have different concerns than students from America.
